Nelson game raises fun and funds
The Nipissing University faculty-staff team narrowly escaped with a victory over the student team in last Friday’s Paul Nelson Memorial Hockey Game. The students, however, came away with a victory anyway, as the game raised more than $1,200 for the Paul Nelson Memorial Scholarship.
Utilizing their youthful legs and lungs, the students took a 4-1 lead deep into the third period before the cagey veterans of the faculty-staff team seemed to stop time and claw back to a 4-4 tie as the buzzer sounded to end the third period.
Justin “JC Superstar” Carré sealed the comeback victory with the lone shootout goal; which Sean “The Trout Creek Cucumber” Bester did the job and "bestered" the student selected for the shootout.
With the victory, the faculty-staff team have now earned the coveted trophy for two consecutive years and are on their way to becoming a dynasty.
Here’s the roster for the winning Faculty/Staff team, so you can congratulate them when you see them in hall, and/or buy them a coffee (no autographs please).
