Wireless upgrade for residence
The wireless hardware in Nipissing’s student residences is getting an upgrade to make it faster, more reliable and able to provide better coverage.
The project began last winter with planning, testing of hardware and some piloting in select rooms. The installation of the upgrade, currently underway, is expected to be completed by late February.
The new hardware supports the latest wireless standards and data-rates, and replaces the 8-9 year old hardware, which is becoming obsolete.
“We have been aware for sometime that the current wifi systems have needed an upgrade,” said Genevieve de Bruyn, manager of residence life. “The student feedback we received from the pilot project was positive and I am confident that students will notice a significant improvement in the range, strength and consistency of the WiFi signal.
