Nipissing University Reports Exceptional Application Results
Nipissing University is reporting exceptional application results as the first round of numbers from the Ontario Universities Application Centre were released near the end of January. Citing a number of statistics, Nipissing University officials were enthusiastic about the numbers.
“Across multiple groups of applicants, it’s clear that Nipissing University has succeeded in attracting expressions of interest,” stated Dr. Arja Vainio-Mattila, Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Research, at Nipissing University. “Our numbers this year have exceeded both the previous year’s numbers and the Ontario-wide growth, by notable margins.”
Dr. Mike DeGagné, President of Nipissing University, attributes the changes to the focus the institution places on student experience and the successful communication of these values by the student recruitment team.
“Nipissing University has a reputation of excellence in putting students first,” said DeGagné. “Our student recruitment team has worked hard to get that message out and now we’re seeing the results.”
In the category of Ontario high school student applicants, Nipissing University saw an increase in applications by 26.8% from this time last year, compared to an Ontario-wide increase of only 4.9% over that period. Among all other types of applicants, Nipissing University has seen an increase of 24.6% since this time last year, compared to an Ontario-wide increase of only 12.2%.
The general number of applications is not the only promising application statistic for Nipissing University. For applicants to education, Nipissing University has seen a 7% increase since last year, surpassing the total number of applications received from the previous year. Nipissing University has also seen a 20% increase in applications ranking it their first choice, and a 30% increase in applications ranking it their second choice, putting Nipissing University second in the province in terms of improvements in those categories since last year.
