Nipissing Remembers

2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. On November 11, Nipissing University encourages all members of the Lakers community to observe a moment of silence to honour the courage, valour and sacrifice of those who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war and conflict.

On Remembrance Day, we honour those who served and sacrificed for all we have. We remember those who did not have the same opportunities we have today and pause to reflect and give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy.

At Nipissing University, we are proud of our long-standing relationship with CFB/BFC North Bay 22 Wing. Over the past decade, Lakers Athletics has raised over $30,000 for the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) through its annual Military Appreciation Night hockey game. The Nipissing University Student Union also maintains a unique partnership with the MFRC, referring students who are veterans, family members of veterans or regular forces personnel to the MFRC to ensure they are supported as they navigate university life.

Although we are not able to gather in person this year to observe Remembrance Day, you can pay tribute to our veterans and active service members by:

Lest We Forget.
