ResearchMegan Odd, a graduate student in the Master of Arts: Sociology - Applied Social Research program was selected to present her undergraduate honours thesis research, Implementing the Eight-Lamp Amber-Red Advanced Warning Light System on School Buses in Ontario, to Ontario’s Legislative Assembly in support of Bill 246, the Safer School Buses Act. -
Social work students contribute to COVID-19 response efforts in Tanzania
Community Service LearningSchool of Social WorkNipissing University students from the International Social Work class recently completed a community service learning project with a non-governmental organization in Tanzania called Peri-Urban Ambulatory Nexus Tanzania (PANETA), aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19 among the working poor in the busy Kariakoo market area in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. -
Nipissing celebrates International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
March 21, marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD). IDERD was established by the United Nations in 1966 to commemorate the Sharpeville Massacre of 1960. It is observed every March 21 to bring the world community together to increase its efforts in the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination and racism (United Nations, Resolution 2142, XX1). -
$8.4 Million for Post-Secondary Institutions
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced a combined investment of $8.4 million to help Canadore College and Nipissing University address the financial impacts of COVID-19. This investment will support the sustainability of postsecondary education in North Bay and help ensure students get the skills and education they need for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow. -
