Distinguished Nipissing alumnus Anna Pearson is shaping the minds of the “adults of tomorrow”
GeneralAlumniOn Anna Pearson’s first ever report card, her teacher wrote that one day, she would make an excellent teacher. That early insight has proven true. Today, Anna is a celebrated educator and the recipient of numerous teaching awards including the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2024) from Nipissing University, the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2022) for her outstanding contributions to K-12 education, and most recently the Award for Future-Proofing Students from the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (2025). -
Nipissing University welcomes visitors to Fall Open House
GeneralRecruitmentNipissing University welcomed more than 500 guests, including 240 prospective students, to campus on Saturday, October 25, for its annual Fall Open House. The event offered visitors an immersive experience of what life is like at Nipissing, from exploring labs and classrooms to connecting with professors, staff, and current students.
One Student’s Purrfect Path to Graduation
At Nipissing University, students often talk about finding their place. For Breanna Mills, a History student graduating this spring, that sense of belonging came from community, hands-on experience, and a small but constant presence by her side in the form of a feline. Her name is April, an orange tabby cat with a keen sense of awareness. April isn’t just a companion to Mills; she’s a trained service animal who has been part of nearly every step of her university journey.
