Nipissing University launches new video series promoting Indigenous knowledge sharing
Indigenous InitiativesNipissing University is pleased to announce the launch of a new video series focused on Indigenous knowledge sharing. The six-video series, titled “Visiting with Anishnaabe and Cree Knowledge Holders”, features knowledge holders from across the region and was produced in support of Nipissing University’s Summer Indigenous Institute, a transition program for Indigenous students entering university. -
Nipissing mourns loss of Dr. Muriel Sawyer
GeneralThe Nipissing University community was sad to learn of the loss of a great friend to the University, Nipissing First Nation Deputy Chief, Dr. Muriel Sawyer (Honoris Causa). Dr. Sawyer was a custodian of language and culture and an irreplaceable advocate for Indigenous education. -

AlumniNU CafeA new book club has officially launched for Nipissing University students and alumni through the NU Café networking platform. NU Café Book Club members will have two months to read each selection followed by the opportunity to participate in a virtual Book Club Chat about the book with a special guest. -
Researchers receive grant for study on dementia, social isolation, loneliness
ResearchNipissing Professor of Social Work and Social Gerontology, Dr. Mary Pat Sullivan, is leading a research team that was recently awarded a grant from the Retired Teachers of Ontario Foundation (RTOERO Foundation) for a study on dementia, social isolation and loneliness.

Until January 31, 2022, faculty members, alumni, students and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in one of three categories: Academic, Campus or Community.
