In a season that, despite some bumps, will help in the long run, two Nipissing Lakers men’s basketball team members were recognized for being key contributors to their team. Both Marcus Lewis and Marcos Clennon were named to the OUA All-Rookie team last week thanks to being two impact players for the Lakers this season and sitting one and two in team scoring.

It was another playoff appearance for the Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey team – their sixth straight – and it was thanks to a balanced attack.

For the second year in a row, North Bayites are encouraged to break out their cowbells and celebrate winter while watching incredible student-athletes compete in the OUA Nordic Championships. Nipissing University is proud to host the 2015 Northgate Tour De Nipissing OUA Nordic Championships February 13-15 at locations across the city.

As the Nipissing Lakers athletic program continues to grow, so does the provincial and national recognition the student-athletes receive. Last Friday, the Lakers celebrated 32 student-athletes that excel in the classroom as well as on the field, in the gym and on the ice.

While still a relatively new initiative, the Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team and the Nipissing University sports marketing class have taken great strides in making the Pink the Rink campaign a huge success.
