The design of Nipissing University’s mace is a complex mixture of artistry and power. Its presence represents the authority vested in the University to grant degrees, yet its design signifies more than the right to certify students as knowledgeable. It incorporates all the effort, history and tradition that surround both the site of and the vision for the University.

Luke is a tireless worker passionately striving to make the community a better place. He volunteers in key positions around the city including helping low-income families in North Bay become homeowners with Project HOAP (Home Ownership Affordability Partnership), helping sponsor a refugee family in North Bay, and helping manage and lead a condominium corporation.

Each honorary degree recipient was asked: What are some of your accomplishments that make you proud? What does this honorary degree from Nipissing University mean to you? And, what is your message to graduates?  Today, we are pleased to present Dr. Jeannette Corbiere Lavell.
