Dellandrea was recommended by the Chancellor selection committee, which considered and discussed nominations from the university community and other stakeholders. The Chancellor is the titular head of the university and confers all degrees to graduates at Convocation. Dellandrea was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Nipissing University in June 2010.

Construction has begun on Nipissing University’s vision for an active learning and physical health research innovation centre.
