On November 27, 2013 students in Dr. Stephen Connor’s third-year history course, Indochina at War, 1940-1975, had an opportunity to speak with a witness to history, Major Hoi B. Tran. Speaking from his home in California, Major Tran engaged with Nipissing students and answered questions for over an hour, recalling his own personal story of life and conflict in Vietnam.

Move over Margaret Mead. Step aside Claude Levi-Strauss. The next generation of anthropologists who change the way humans see themselves and their cultures could be walking the halls of Nipissing University next year, with the launch of a new Anthropology degree program.

Congratulations to Dr. Gillian McCann, assistant professor in the department of Religions and Cultures, on winning a 2013 Heritage Toronto Award of Merit for her book Vanguard of the New Age: The Toronto Theosophical Society 1891-1945.
