Clinical instructors support learning as students applies their cumulative knowledge and skills related to the care of individuals and families experiencing complex health challenges. Building therapeutic relationships and alliances with clients and the interprofessional care team continue to be a care focus. The course includes 168 hours of practice experience for students. Clinical instruction is in person, in acute practice settings, normally as 1 x 12-hour shift each week over 12 weeks.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Relevant recent clinical practice experience aligned with the clinical course focus
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and support students in clinical practice settings
Preferred Qualifications
- A graduate degree in nursing or a related field, or graduate study in progress
- Previous experience as a clinical instructor, preceptor, or mentor in nursing education
- Demonstrated experience in student evaluation and clinical assessment
- Experience supporting learners in specialty practice areas relevant to the course
- Experience with simulation, debriefing, or structured clinical learning activities
- Strong understanding of regulatory, professional, and agency-specific expectations related to clinical education
- Previous experience/employment at the placement agency is an asset.
Duties:
- Responsible for all instruction and evaluation for the portion of the course to which they are assigned
- Will be available to meet with students outside of the official classroom time
- Complete mandatory training requirements, review and follow Nipissing University's policies and procedures
