The purpose of this policy is to ensure that procedures are well understood and minimally disruptive to staff and students alike.
As a general rule, if the City busses are servicing the Education Centre, the University is open for business. Normal operations, including classes and all regular services, will proceed.
Should extremely severe weather conditions require the University to close or cancel classes, the decision will be made by the Executive Administration, in consultation with officials at Canadore and North Bay Transit whenever practical. The University community will then be notified of the closure via email, postings on WebAdvisor and the Nipissing website, and through social media channels (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, etc.). It will also be announced on local radio stations.
Only after a decision has been made to close the campus will employees be dismissed from work and classes cancelled.
Employees and/or students who have questions or concerns about the possible closure of the campus due to inclement weather should direct them to the Facilities Office at ext. 4848.
